About us

Building the AI Operating System for the Physical World

We connect data, quoting, and operations for distributors and manufacturers so teams move faster with confidence. Here is who we are, how we think, and why we are building Matterhaul.

A Note From Our Founders

We didn't start Matterhaul because we saw a market opportunity on a slide deck. We started it because the systems running physical supply chains are fundamentally broken.

We’ve worked inside distribution and manufacturing operations. We’ve watched teams re-enter the same order across multiple systems. We’ve seen commitments disappear into inbox threads. Not because people were bad at their jobs — because the software was.

Most enterprise systems were built to record history inside one company. Physical commerce doesn’t work that way. Every order moves across manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and customers. Coordination is the real problem.

That’s what we’re building for. Not another dashboard. Not another copilot.

An AI-native operating layer that actually executes operational work across the channel.

The opportunity is enormous, the problem matters and the people building alongside us will define how an entire industry runs.

Life at Matterhaul

Building together, in the room

We are a small team moving quickly, working shoulder-to-shoulder with customers, and making space for the rituals that keep the work human.

The Opportunity

A massive market that software has never really served well

Industrial distribution and hard goods supply chains have resisted software for decades. Not because the people are slow, but because the tools were wrong. ERPs built to record history inside a single company. CRMs built for SaaS sales cycles. Nothing purpose-built to coordinate work across manufacturers, distributors, and dealers the way business actually flows.

$4T+

The US physical goods distribution market, and most of it still runs on spreadsheets and siloed software.

$183B

One of the largest software markets in the world, and it's being rebuilt from scratch.

30%

The operational cost reduction when distributors move from manual workflows to automation.

The coordination problem is structural

Every order touches multiple parties. Each party recreates the same data from scratch. Changes don't propagate. Commitments live in someone's inbox. ERPs weren't designed to fix this, they record what happened inside one company.

Three things are true at once

AI can now execute work, not just analyze it. Integration is finally tractable — a distributor on Epicor can be live in days. And the ERP market is unbundling. The next system of record won't come from SAP or Oracle.

The ROI is immediate

Our pilots see faster quoting, fewer errors, and reps who handle more volume with less friction. There's no six-month change management program, teams feel it in week one.

Our founders

Leadership

We are operators and engineers who have lived distribution and manufacturing from the inside, and we are building Matterhaul directly alongside the teams who run it every day.

Founder-led

Close to the work, close to the customer

Our leadership team stays in the details: customer discovery, implementation work, product decisions, and the operating realities that make this category hard to serve well.

How we work

Our operating principles

These aren't values we aspirationally posted on a wall. They're how we actually make decisions.

Our operating principles

We've run distribution operations, sat with counter teams, and lived the complexity of coordinating across the channel. We build from real experience, not assumptions. Every employee spends time onsite with our customers.

What Customers Say

Real results from real customers

We work closely with every customer. These are the outcomes they're already seeing.

We've been able to speed up quoting significantly, allowing our sales team to focus more time with the customer and close business with less effort.

VP of Sales

Building Materials Distributor

The product knowledge agent alone has saved our counter team hours every week. Our reps can answer customer questions instantly instead of digging through binders and calling suppliers.

Operations Manager

Industrial Distributor

We were skeptical about AI in our business, but Matterhaul actually understood how distribution works. It didn't try to replace our team, it made them faster.

Our office

Based in San Francisco

Our headquarters is in San Francisco. We believe the best ideas happen in the room together and we stay flexible when life demands it.
